Lee Mansion is a history lovers paradise. Built in 1875 to 1878 by Jeremiah Lee an ex-slave of Robert E. Lee. His wife Emily traces her ancestry back to the slaves of Martha Washington. Mr. Lee moved to Colorado at the beginning of the gold rush and became a very wealthy man.
All of Central City is historic: St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, which stands on one of the oldest Catholic gathering places in Colorado.
St James United Methodist Church – Central City Opera House – Teller House – Main St lined with fabulous Victorian buildings being kept alive by quaint casinos, a local brew beer pub and a few shops.
The Mansion has the feng shui elegant decor with Victorian style and two parlours to lounge about to admire the clocks, drapes, lamps, art and ambiance. Take time to breathe in clean purified air without any toxic smells, Lee Mansion is operated as organically sustainable. No perfumes or colognes allowed. You often get to sleep on fresh line dried sheets.
Shoes are taken off in the front entryway. Take a seat and wiggle your toes then put on your house slippers. Keeps the carpets clean and is very comfortable.
Two mellow cats live in Lee Mansion, Marie and OB1. They are not allowed upstairs in the private rooms and are free to go in and out of the Mansion. They offer a free spider plant to take home so you can cherish the memories.
